Strange in a Stranger Land

That June 15th date I gave for my layoff was a bit off. I got laid off the day after Memorial Day.

I’ve been keeping busy; looking for work and writing.

Also I’ve been doing a regular podcast. It’s a short music podcast, M-F at 5:55am. Usually under ten minutes, and mostly punk stuff. But occasionally I’ll play some other stuff. Check it out at terminalsignal.net.

June 15th.

That is the day I predict I will be told I am unemployed. This is based on guess work from looking at my schedule, our staffing needs, and the fact that they won’t be warning us when the time comes.

I have a little bit of down time tonight. I’m using it to do some organization of my various blogs and such. I’m also writing a review for the Discordia19 blog run by my good friend Joe. It’s a Stephen King Blog and Podcast. If you like Stephen King, you’ll like it.

I’m also cleaning up the ill-literati.org site. It was once to be a gleaming beacon of great minds. Now it’s just me literally masturbating.

I mean, literary masturbating.

Yeah. Waiting to get laid off sucks. You know it’s coming down the line. You’ve been told that sometime between the beginning of May and the end of August you’re going to be shown the door.

And you see the company’s facebook page. And it says things like how they’re hiring. And your co-workers get to go to the Philippines to train their replacements. And you wonder how you might work a transfer to Guatemala. Not because you particularly want to go to Guatemala, but because you think it might be funny.

And then the layoffs start. And you see that there will be little to no warning. You have up to three and a half months to wait for the axe. And you never know when it may hit.

On the plus side… I’ll have time to work on my back hand.

What is this for me now, the eighth blog I keep so that I can ignore it?

That’s the problem of being ambitious and a slacker. Too many ideas, not enough time to hack through them. So now, I’m branching out.

All other blogs/webholes/presences are being filtered and separated. There will be no question as to what the fuck it’s there for.

And there are others. I don’t know what they’re for yet, so I’m not talking about them at the moment.

This is going to be a personal blog. This is about me, what I do, and why I do it. It’s also about you. Because you’re here with me, living in the fucking future and everything we do, affects everything we do.

I don’t care if you read this one. It may be boring at times. It may be funny. It may be me typing the word “fuck” a thousand times because I had a shitty day. It may be me typing “fuck you” a thousand times because I had a shitty day over something you did.

You know who you are.

And this is me. Strange in a Stranger Land. Just like you. Because we’re all stranger than anything else we can imagine until we interact with anything else.

So, fuck you. Because you did this to me.
